Saw a very odd bumpersticker yesterday.
God was my copilot, but we crashed into a mountain and I ate him.
Now given the neighborhood this was in, I don’t think they really meant to express all the orthodoxy implicit in the statement.
1. If God is the co-pilot and the individual the captain of the soul, then a wrecked life is probably inevitable due to the effects of original sin.
2. The Most High offers Himself as food for us in the Eucharist.
3. The Eucharist is the surest way for us to be saved from the wreckage we would otherwise make of our lives.
May those who were (in all likelihood) attempting to mock the Faith, be brought to share in it fully.
