Kibbles 'n bits

Much radio silence lately. A few reasons, some good and some less so:

- have been focusing some efforts lately on getting in better physical condition, to some avail - lost 13 pounds in past two months, have thirty-odd more to go and hope to do so before 2007 begins;

- have been doing lots of entertaining, including fixing some darn good meals (without conflicting with the above point) such as variants on the delightful beer can chicken recipe - it's tasty*, healthy, entertaining and inexepensive;

- working in the garden which produced its first three yummy little cherry tomatoes yesterday, with much more to come, including abundant full-sized tomatoes;

- too much job stuff;

- too much time reading and commenting on blogs outside of St. Blog's Parish (many of which aren't even on that archaic blogroll);

- planning a trip for an out-of-town conference that should be a good experience; and

- planning a late-summer vacation that circumstances just cancelled.

My only really bloggable moment lately came when I was with a large group from the parish and a hard-left boomer womyn said "Things in my life have really gone full circus . . . er full circle." No dearie, you probably were closer to being right the first time.

*Seriously, I have never had a better preparation for chicken. It comes out incredibly moist, even if you use a fryer instead of a roaster. Of course it's good with beer - as are all things in the summer, but it's very good with cheap white wine in the can too. I may get brave enough to try this with duck one of these days.
