. . . so get with it!

CAI has a new look (an improvement over the old one, in the main) and, to no one’s surprise, a new article condemning the as-yet unconfirmed report of the addition of new mysteries to the Rosary.

The article put me in mind of the old Saturday Night Live skit “Bad Theater, with Leonard Pinth-Garnell”. In Bad Theater, Dan Aykroyd (playing Mr. Pinth-Garnell) reviewed the worst possible theatrical displays like a critic would review a good play. This new CAI piece (“Semper Idem”) was undoubtedly one of the worst things I’ve ever read in terms of theology, composition and logic.

One of the most astounding assertions is that the new mysteries are part of a pattern of “protestantization” (as they may reduce the number of days on which one would meditate on the Assumption and the Coronation of the Blessed Virgin). Sure, that’s it. The Pope is trying to make the Rosary into a Protestant prayer. I can’t imagine anyone who has more than a nodding acquaintance with either the Rosary or Protestants making that assertion, but that’s Bad Theater for you.
