Highlights of my life since last I blogged:

Friday after work – attended All Saints’ Day Mass celebrated by Archbishop Chaput, who spoke (as is his custom often) on the universal call to holiness.

Saturday morning – a meeting for my home parish’s lectors at which we were introduced to pertinent bits of the new GIRM.

Saturday evening – dinner with friends.

Sunday morning – Mass with several dear friends .

Sunday afternoon – reading the latest from Sungenis (more to come on this soon).

This morning – took a great walk with the big furry mutt. The twin purposes of his existence are to constantly verify that his people do indeed love him and to rid the world of squirrels. This morning he came within an inch of actually catching a squirrel. The disappointment in not catching the squirrel lasted for only an instant, but his delight at having made the squirrel flee in mortal terror was obviously a highlight of his puppy existence. It’s too easy for me to obsess about my failures and the things in my life that aren’t how I want the to be. May God grant me the grace to have the optimism I see in the dog.

So there you have it.
