Thought provoking question raised by Dylan: If you were asked to choose the worst day in American history between November 22, 1963 (assassination of President Kennedy) and September 11, 2001 (Islamist terrorist attacks killing over 3000 Americans), which date would you choose? Which incident, and why?”
I posted three in his comments (the fall of the Tehran embassy; Roe v. Wade; Evans v. Romer), but there are at least two more that merit consideration: the appeasement of extortion by Anwar Sadat in the ‘70s and Yassir Arafat in the ‘90s. Sadat’s bargain has propped up his successor’s regime by making it such a large beneficiary of US money. Arafat’s has kept the terror train rolling and gaining speed. It’s a hard choice.
