My pastor gave a very good homily yesterday for the solemnity.

He duly noted the great achievements of the prince of the apostles. Next came the passage where Jesus says to St. Peter “get behind Me, Satan!” and the three denials. He then recounted the great record of the apostle to the gentiles. He went on to read St. Paul’s scathing rebuke of St. Peter in Galatians.

The explanation of these paradoxes came from Romans 7:19-25.
