Vita Brevis

. . . so get with it!

Saturday I had the distinct pleasure of taking my two godsons to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The six-year-old liked it, the nine-year-old liked it more and I liked it most of all. Tim Burton and Deep Roy had tricks up their sleeve that equaled those up Mr. Wonka’s own. In case you didn’t know, Mr. Roy (with a generous assist from CGI) plays all of the Oompa Loompas and quite steals the show.

The homage to Busby Berkeley in one Oompa Loompa number was worth the price of admission by itself.

This movie wasn’t nearly as creepy as the 1971 Willy Wonka flick, but was even more deeply odd.
