Part of a trend?
As a former Lutheran, seems to me that the wheels are really coming off of the primary Lutheran groups in the US. This remarkable open letter by a prominent ELCA pastor (found courtesy of Mr. Cork would support that hypothesis as to ELCA. Interestingly enough, this is coming as an ELCA church I drive by every day has changed its exterior signage so that the word “Lutheran” has become “Community”.
The re-branding happens in some LCMS congregations too. Anyone who paid attention saw that2004 was hardly a harmonious year for LCMS.
So why the big crack-ups now? I’d have to suggest that the Seminex ecclesiology and doctrine continues to produce results.
