I agree with Miss Emily – Cardinal Law’s resignation is not an occasion for glee. It is, or at least seems to me to be, a necessary step in the arduous process of healing as it has the potential to restore the archdiocese’s credibility. I hope it will also be a motivation to other bishops and clergy to work to resolve the issue rather than papering it over.
