. . . so get with it!

They made my point for me.

One of my frequent gripes about our society is that many institutions (particularly in mass media) promote hostility to laws. Usually they don’t promote hostility to all laws, but to selected ones. Still, that has the overall effect of reducing the public’s respect for the law and for moral standards in general. The laws most likely to be shunned are the prohibitionist laws (whether the prohibition of alcohol, marijuana, tobacco or any other number of recreational substances) and traffic laws.

Last night there was a commercial for some SUV. In the commercial, kids were making cars for a soap box derby. One kid made his as a replica of the prized SUV. As the race began, all the kids but the protagonist hurried to get down the road. The star took a short cut off the road, nearly running over another kid on one pass, then cutting off the leader to win the race.

So here it is, the vehicle for those of you who want to bully, cheat and take what rightfully belongs to someone else. I’d suggest that in the sequel, someone dig a moat on the off-road course so the next cheater gets his comeuppance.
