Vita Brevis

. . . so get with it!

Good news abounds:

1. My wife’s second biopsy results came back benign. The most important good news of the day.

2. At last I was able to find Dad’s nomadic sister to inform her that she’s the last of her generation in the family.

3. Trent Lott has seen at least a little bit of light and will step down as majority leader.

4. The one first cousin who shares my last name should be able to come to town for the funeral. I haven’t seen him since our grandfather’s funeral 16 years ago this week.

5. Dylan posted Psalm 90 in the beautiful 1928 BCP translation here. (We’ll have that Psalm at the funeral, but in the latest clumsy “literal” translation that my Dad’s Lutheran congregation has adopted.)

6. This morning, being much more cloudy than is customary, had one of the most magnificent sunrises I’ve ever seen. The horizon shone with color in every direction and streaks of gold and rose reached nearly to the apex of the sky.

This is the day that the Lord hath made, let us rejoice and be glad in it.
