This seems very odd to me.

Compare, if you will, the sense of the second reading for this Sunday – a section of Romans 11 that skips 14 verses - (available here) with the sense of the full chapter (available here). Verses 20b through 23 seem to me a very salutary message, particularly to give some context to the reading many would give to verse 29 these days. Must be that whole neo-Cath thing.
