All in all it was an odd start to Christmas.
Highlights:
* Midnight Masa at the Cathedral – one of the most reverent and moving worship experiences in my life, including the Schubert Sanctus. (There’s a profound connection to I Corinthians 12 in singing the ordinary in harmony – even more so when the music is so good that one can picture it being sung my the angels and saints) and Eucharistic Prayer I.
* Seeing my friend’s four-year-old son playing with an assortment of yesterday’s bounty with such pure excitement.
Lowlights:
* The computer still doesn’t recognize the @#$#@%#@$ digital camera (an HP, no less).
* Hearing the incessant chatter of so many of the Midnight Mass attendees during the hour before the pre-service music. That would have been a much better opportunity for prayer if people could have been more respectful of both Him whom we were there to celebrate and of their neighbors. I should treat that as a reminder to myself of the need to treat our Father and all His children with greater kindness and respect and not just at Christmas.
